The new Greek film, Ruins: Chronicle of an HIV Witch-hunt, will show at 6:30pm, Fri. Nov. 8 at the NYU Global Center for Academic and Spiritual Life, Rm. 383, at 238 Thompson St. (note corrected street #) on the south side of Washington Sq. Park, followed by discussion with the film's executive producer. Greek food and refreshments.

Two Golden Dawn members were shot to death and another man was wounded by unknown assailants who drove up on a motorbike and opened fire outside the Golden Dawn offices on Nov. 1. We condemn this crime absolutely. See the AKNY-Greece Solidarity Movement statement on the murders.

On Nov. 6, eight squads of riot police raided the headquarters of the public broadcaster ERT, where workers had continued broadcasting ever since the government ordered a shut down of ERT in June. On Nov. 7 ERT news was broadcast from the street and watched by 1.25 million people. Syriza has filed a no-confidence motion in parliament, censuring the government for its action.

(Thanks to AKNY-Greece Solidarity Movement and Syriza-NY for the updates)
